Types of News

There are various types of news stories. For example, there are Crime stories, Entertainment stories, and Exclusivity stories. Each of them has their own impact on society and create interest for readers. There are also events that are rare or unusual and are worth reporting on. However, there are some general principles that apply to all types of news.

The degree of status deviance influenced by the crime and its victim will determine how much coverage is given to a homicide. For instance, a crime involving a wealthy white male will receive much more coverage than one involving an impoverished black woman. This is because a crime against a rich white male would violate social benchmarks to a much greater extent than a crime against a poor black woman.

Students at Grady College recently completed a capstone project on “Money in the News,” which included reporting personal finance stories. The articles were published through the College Connect program, which was sponsored by the National Endowment for Financial Education. One of the articles, written by Jeanne Davis, was selected by SABEW as the top submission.

Entertainment is the creative process of giving or receiving pleasure and amusement. The process can be performed by individual performers or groups. It may involve a formal scripted performance or spontaneous performance. Entertainment has been around for centuries, evolving along with the culture, technology, and fashion of various societies.

An exclusive can be a great PR strategy. It can also be helpful if you’re looking to maximize your coverage. But what should you know before pitching an exclusive? It’s important to remember that there are rules and etiquette associated with exclusives. It’s a two-way street, and breaking the terms of an exclusive can damage your reputation.

The shareability of news is an important measure of the impact of a news story. Stories with high shareability will receive more attention than those that have lower shareability. For example, a story about a coup is more likely to receive widespread attention than one about a celebrity.

Proximity of news is a term that focuses on the relationship between news sources and events. It is important for news organizations to stay close to the issues that matter most to consumers. This type of news is best suited for audiences that are located in specific regions.
